Liquid-based Cytology System Liquid-based Cytology System
Intended For Use
Cancer diagnosis by screening is a method to observe the presence of cancer through morphological diagnosis of the cells. In the past, the Direct Smear method was used, and recently, the Liquid-based Cytology method has been used. When using the direct smear method, 80% of the collected cells were discarded, and since the morphology of the smeared cells was not uniform, it was difficult to expect an accurate test. In the case of Liquid-based Cytology, the sample is placed in the liquid, and the collected cells are distributed evenly in the liquid. The sample is taken from the liquid to make a slide, thereby a uniform cellularity can be obtained
Features
WellPrep is a technology that makes it easy to create high-quality slides at any time, regardless of specimen conditions. WellPrep uses centrifugation technology. After the specially designed consumables are mounted in the processor, the slides are made while operating automatically.
The concept of WellPrep technology is as follows. The first centrifugation of the sample causes the cells to collect under the sample vial. The collected cells are transferred to the Density Reagent Chamber containing Density Reagent. The secondary centrifugation causes heavy cells to settle quickly. Only the cells thus precipitated are transferred to the slide and smeared. If you use this method, you can easily get good quality slides regardless of the sample condition.
Specification

In order to evaluate the diagnostic characteristics of the WellPrep system, the SurePath of BD USA and WellPrep systems were clinically evaluated. Clinical evaluation was performed by the Department of Pathology at Seoul National University, and a total of 413 cases were conducted (Medical Research Ethics Review Board (IRB) No.: 2003-193-1112). As a result of clinical evaluation, a total of 97.7% of the 413 cases were consistent.
